I have found that I often have a hard time asking for help when I need it, but we are definitely in a time when we could really use all of the help we can get. A few weeks ago I went in because I found a lump in my breast, one turned into a couple areas of concern. The day I went for my biopsy those two areas turned into a nightmare. In that moment, I already knew the outcome would not be good. A week later I found out I was correct. I have breast cancer, I wasn't so much upset that I have been diagnosed with cancer because I will beat this, but upset about how much it will effect my family, my job and my life. I dont have time for cancer. And how will we financially survive this? I'm a mother of two, how can I take care of them and have surgery with my husband just having surgery on both shoulders? What if I need chemo? Even with insurance, medical bills will be a financial burden. The initial recommendation has been for a mastectomy, possibly bilateral, along with genetic testing (which I had done and insurance does not cover) to see if I am also at an increased risk. I am in the early stages of the diagnosis, so we don't yet know the full extent of the disease but with testing, surgery time off work it is already overwhelming. So for right now, we really need a lot of financial assistance with Al not back from recovery and my start in this battle. Funds will be used to help cover the copays of all of my treatments, and surgeries. To help cover our costs of living because I'll most likely have to take extended time off of work. The plan will be to try and work through as much as I can and Al to get back to work but there's no real timelines for all that now. We really appreciate any and all help you are able to provide. I don't know the exact timelines for any of this, but it will all be moving quickly! We will know more in the coming days and weeks and update this page as time and news progresses.
