Melissa Anderson was diagnosed with colorectal cancer on February 5th, 2020, after just giving birth to a baby boy in September. She is also an amazing mother to their adorable 3 year old little girl, Isabel and loving wife to Joseph. Baby Gideon was born in September 2019. During her third trimester, she began to notice symptoms that were troubling, but was assured they were due to pregnancy. While recovering, her symptoms became worse, and she quickly realized that something wasn't right. She started visiting doctors and specialists during the following months until they discovered the colorectal cancer, which had then progressed into Stage 3.
Melissa will have to undergo months of chemo and radiation to try to shrink the tumors to a size that doctors can operate on. She will have surgery to remove the tumors and at least another 6 months of dual chemotherapy before re-evaluating. To add to the trauma, her doctors have instructed her that during her treatment, she will not be able to care for, snuggle, or even touch her brand new baby or little girl because the dangerous medication will pass from her skin on to them. In the face of all this, Melissa has an inspiring and positive attitude, and she is ready to fight as long as it takes her to beat this!
As medical bills already start to pile up, the family has no idea how long this fight will take. Melissa has had to quit her job, and the family will have to find child care while Melissa endures treatments and surgeries. Your donation can help relieve some of the burden and stress during this difficult time. There is no donation too small. If you are unable to donate, please continue to share her story. Any unused contributions will be donated to assist others battling cancer.
