Help Melissa and Her Boys Through This Tragic Loss

Chris Dillon never met a stranger. Within a minute or two in his orbit, Chris would treat you like a longtime friend – whether he met you socially or through his work for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, where he rose through the ranks from deputy to Lieutenant over his 23-year career.

Chris was an amazing, father, husband, friend and deputy. Nothing made him happier than being with his wife Melissa, and their boys, Ethan and Jacob.

He had a light that shone brightly, through his actions and his unforgettable smile. That light was dimmed when Chris died on August 19, 2024, but it can never be extinguished.

The impacts Chris made in the Orange County community are too many to count. He was well-respected by colleagues, stood up for the underdog, ensured that victims of violent crime were treated with the utmost respect, and always had a kind word or gesture for a friend, colleague or stranger.

Chris loved his family, loved his work and his colleagues, and loved making an impact in our community. His unwavering commitment to everything he did made him an exceptional husband, father, friend, and deputy.

His departure leaves a painful void that can never be filled.
