Help Melinda Hit the High Notes Again!

Hi...my name is Carey and I am one of hundreds of people who are fortunate to call Melinda Lyon their friend. As many of you have heard by now, our friend Melinda is struggling and needs our help.

In October, Melinda began experiencing a rapid heart rate and shortness of breath. A trip to the emergency room along with a stay in the hospital helped to determine that she had what is known as atrial fibrillation or A-fib.

Melinda traveled to Knoxville, TN for a judging assignment not long after her diagnosis and ended up in the emergency room again...this time with her heart rate dropping dangerously low. She was given a medication for extreme nausea that, unknown to anyone, she was allergic to. It caused her to have what is known as anaphylactic shock where she had to be put in the ICU on a ventilator to breathe. While she was in the ICU, Melinda had a full cardiac arrest but CPR brought her back. Two weeks later she was finally able to come off the ventilator and stable enough to be transported to a hospital in Louisville.

Melinda is recovering very slowly and will soon be headed to a facility for much needed rehabilitation to begin her long journey back to her old self. She very much wants to get back on her feet and to live a full and independent life once again. She especially wants to get back to "her babies"...Wynn and Rita, two beautiful Westies.

Melinda may have been stopped in her tracks during this time but her expenses have not and they continue to grow. The medical professionals have indicated that Melinda will need 24/7 care AFTER she gets out of rehab, which of course is costly. She also has medical expenses, dog sitter expenses, house expenses, etc. that needs to be paid now so the need is immediate.

Melinda is loved by many and has given of herself to so many people in so many ways. She has been there for us so we are hoping that you will be there for Melinda.
