My name is Melinda. Over the past two years, I have been the primary caregiver for my disabled brother due to his previous mistreatment and lack of care while with family. While I am grateful and blessed to be here for him, the financial strain has been tremendous.

I was not given a lot of time to prepare in any way before getting him(I found out like a week before). In order to get him, I had to miss work and travel across half the country to move him back with me. When he first arrived, it was months before his disability and EBT were able to get transferred since he had moved states. To ensure he had the care and support he needed (bed, clothes, food, etc.), I had to take out several loans.

Dealing with the financial stressors while managing his adjustment and trauma has also caused my Lupus to flare more than ever, leading to missed work due to my own body’s disabilities.

Unfortunately, all of this combined has left me behind on my utilities and struggling to keep up with everyday expenses. I am reaching for help with paying off overdue utility bills and payoff loans I needed for my brother’s care. This support will help me regain financial and medical stability and ensure our safety with necessities.
