Help Melinda Hanley Fight Pancreatic Cancer and Recover from Surgery
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
Life can change in an instant. This week, Melinda received the shocking and heartbreaking news that she has pancreatic cancer. This diagnosis has been overwhelming, especially after losing her dad to the same illness in 2020. However, she is staying focused on treatment and holding onto hope that she can overcome this.
The tumor is malignant, though the exact type is still unclear. The good news is that she recently underwent surgery to remove it, and while they were able to address the immediate issue, the procedure was extensive. The surgeon had to remove half of her pancreas and her entire spleen. The recovery ahead is daunting, both physically and emotionally.
Moving forward, she will need to explore specialized pancreatic cancer centers to ensure she gets the best care possible. Unfortunately, the financial burden of treatment and recovery is immense.
Moreover, Melinda lives in the hurricane Helene-affected area of North Carolina. She was just in the process of starting her pastry business, and the hurricane has hugely impacted on the food and restaurant business, which means no income for her, even if she was well enough to work. It’s really a double hit, but she is determined to come back stronger than ever.
This is where I need your help. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward:
· Covering medical expenses, including surgery and follow-up treatments.
· Travel and consultations with specialists for ongoing care.
· Recovery costs, including medications and necessary lifestyle adjustments.
· Everyday bills and expenses for mortgage, utilities and groceries, etc.
This journey was never something she anticipated, but she is grateful for the love and support of those around her. Your contributions, no matter how small, will make a difference in helping her focus on healing instead of worrying about the financial strain.
