Melina, known to friends as Mel, is a cherished member of our church community who is currently facing a critical point in her recovery journey. Ten years ago, Melina was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), but with medication and determination, she managed to keep her symptoms under control. Everything changed in 2021 after she received the Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine. Within hours, Melina experienced sudden paralysis and her MS symptoms rapidly worsened. Since then, she has been bravely learning how to walk again, dealing with spasticity, stiffness in her legs, weakness on the left side of her body, hand dexterity issues, and chronic fatigue every day.

Traditional medicine has not been able to help Melina regain her mobility, and she is now at a crossroads. Her only option is to undergo specialized stem cell therapy at Bio Xcellarator in Colombia, a treatment that is medically necessary but not covered by insurance. The costs are significant, including two sessions of stem cell treatment, outpatient rehabilitation at Barwis Neurological Training and Recovery for several months, housing, and other medical needs. Melina believes that with the right support and access to fitness and therapy, she can recover her mobility and stop the progression of her MS symptoms.
