Help Melih attend graduate school and avoid army
Hi, I am Melih Meric. Born and raised in Turkey. Attended United World College Maastricht in 2015-17. Attended Bennington College with a near full scholarship and graduated this May 2021 with a 3.74 GPA.
I need your help to fund my further education in the US.
In the midst of a pandemic and my senior year at college in Bennington, I have applied and gotten accepted to four competitive graduate degree programs including:
Cranbrook Academy of Art - Print Media
School of Art Institute of Chicago - Print Media
MICA - Interdisciplinary Studies
Hunter College - Print Media
I have accepted an offer from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Print Media department for a two year program. They have initially offered me a full tuition scholarship named Director’s Fellowship in the amount 40.150$.
Middle of this summer, some complications occurred with my residency status and i was found ineligible for this fellowship as I am not a US permanent resident. Hence my full ride fellowship has been taken away due to miscommunication.
Despite that, I was given a scholarship in the amount of 30.000$. I am very appreciative of the Cranbrook staff for working with me towards a financial aid offer that can be possible with this fundraiser.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to complete the missing amount so I can attend this program.
It is vital for me to attend this program since I am drafted to mandatory army in Turkey unless I am enrolled in an educational institution. The mandatory army in Turkey is a minimum of 6 months, and as a queer artist, I need your help to pay my tuition.
