Melfi is a gentle, loving 7-year-old cat who spent four long years waiting patiently in a shelter, longing for a family to love her.

Found as a stray with her kittens and brought to SOS El Arca Animal Rescue in Mexico, she saw all of her babies find new homes, but she was left behind. While kittens came and went, she continued to wait, quietly, patiently, and with unwavering love.

Despite her extended stay in the shelter, Melfi’s sweet and loving nature never faded. She remains calm, affectionate, and deeply caring. She loves human attention and is happiest when curled up in a warm, cozy spot.

Recently, Melfi finally got a chance at a brighter future and was brought to New York. Sadly, soon after arriving, she was diagnosed with severe feline stomatitis, a chronic and painfully debilitating immune-mediated disease. This condition causes persistent inflammation and infection in her mouth, developing over time. The only way to give her relief is through full-mouth dental extraction.

Melfi has likely endured significant pain quietly for many years, waiting silently for someone to notice her suffering and give her a chance at happiness.
