- O
My name is Melena, and I’m Haitian. My journey toward medicine began with a painful loss. When I was young, my cousin, who was close to my age, became seriously ill. There were no doctors or nurses nearby, and he passed away. That loss taught me how critical it is for families to have access to compassionate care.
I’ve also lived with a breathing condition my whole life, which drives me to better understand medicine—not only for myself, but to help others who feel powerless when facing illness. I’m an empathetic person, and when someone is in need, I want to be there to help. Right now, I’m studying for a Medical Assistant certificate in the U.S. to gain clinical experience. After that, I plan to continue my education at Peking University in China, focusing on medicine and healthcare.
I am proud to be the first in my family, generation after generation, to graduate high school and attend college. Your support will help me cover tuition, travel, living expenses, and books. Every donation brings me closer to becoming a healthcare provider who can give families the care my cousin never had. Thank you for believing in me and helping me reach this dream.
Thank you!
