Well she’s here! Melba Jane made it out of the womb!! She was born via C section on Monday, 8/18 at 11:46am! Weighing 6lb and 1oz and measuring 19 3/4 inches long!!

Upon assessment Melba was aspirating a lot of foamy substance so the medical team tried to place a tube down her throat. During this process the medical team realized she has a narrow esophagus, as the tube would not pass through to her stomach.

Melba has been diagnosed with esophageal stenosis. She has also been diagnosed with TEF (tracheoesophageal fistula) which is an abnormal connection between the trachea and esophagus.

This sweet baby girl was flown to Cook’s Children’s Hospital where she underwent surgery to remove the connection between the trachea and esophagus and will also be undergoing a procedure to stretch her esophagus.

Melba is tiny but mighty! She is holding up so good through all this.
