Description: My baby brother Melanite was born after a traumatic and unexpected emergency. When my mom went into labor, there was a significant delay in ambulance transport, and by the time Melanite arrived at the hospital, he was in critical condition. Doctors said that just a few more minutes of delay could have cost him his life. After birth, Melanite underwent emergency neonatal treatment, including a spinal procedure, but soon after, he began to experience severe seizures and an adverse neurological reaction. In the months that followed, he suffered from recurrent seizures and developmental delays. There was also an incident involving incorrect medication management, which worsened his condition.

Due to ongoing complications from birth trauma and seizure disorder, Melanite now faces long-term neurological and developmental impairments. He has delayed speech, impaired mobility, and slowed physical development. My family is struggling with debt from unpaid medical procedures, and Melanite requires a lot of equipment for his physical therapy now and will need even more as he gets older. Although his seizures have improved, he still needs ongoing therapy and support to help him recover and thrive.
