My cousin Melanie is a devoted mother of seven children, doing everything she can to keep her family strong through unimaginable challenges. Melanie's 6-year-old daughter, Nevaeh, was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. The diagnosis has brought fear and uncertainty, but Melanie remains steadfast in her love and care for her children. At the same time, her 20-year-old son, Elijah, is bravely battling kidney disease and is on dialysis for Alport Syndrome. Two other children in the family also carry the gene for Alport Syndrome.
Managing two serious illnesses in the family, while caring for five other children, has placed an enormous emotional and financial strain on Melanie.
At this point, Melanie and Nevaeh must stay in the hospital for chemotherapy. Living in rural Deltaville, VA, Melanie faces extra hurdles as she works to provide for her children. Hospital travel is 72 miles from Deltaville to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, VA for Nevaeh's leukemia treatments and Elijah's dialysis checkups. Melanie is unable to work at this time. The costs of gas, meals on the road, and time away from work add up quickly. Medical bills continue to grow, and daily living expenses are a constant worry as Melanie tries to provide stability and comfort for all her children. Despite these hardships, Melanie’s strength and resilience shine through as she supports her family with unwavering love.
Melanie and her family are asking for prayers, support, and any help you can give. Your kindness will help cover medical bills, travel expenses, and the essentials that keep this family together during their fight. Thank you for standing with Melanie, Nevaeh, Elijah, and their siblings—you are making a real difference in their lives.
Please keep the entire family in your prayers.
