I am 64 years old and have spent the last eight years caring for my elderly mother and my brother, who lost his leg. When my brother became disabled, I took on the responsibility of caring for both of them, doing my best to keep our family together and support them through their challenges. Sadly, in the past year and a half, I lost both my mom and my brother. My mom passed away at the beautiful age of 93, and my brother died eleven months later due to complications from his health issues. Their loss has been incredibly difficult, and I miss them every day.
Since their passing, I have been doing everything I can to keep our home—the mobile home my mom intended to be my forever home. I have been quietly making the mortgage payments, but both mortgages were in my brother's name. Now, the bank has called the notes due after learning of his passing, and I am at the end of my rope. I have tried to refinance, but my credit is not strong enough, and I am struggling to keep up with the payments. This home means everything to me; it's where I shared so many memories with my family, and I want to honor their wishes by staying here.
I am reaching out for help to pay off the mortgages and make some needed repairs to the house. Your support would mean the world to me and give me a chance to stay in the place that holds so many memories. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for any help you can offer. Please hug your loved ones and cherish every moment. With love, Melanie.
