In August, I was injured at work and have been on workers comp ever since. Unfortunately, the payments I receive aren’t enough to cover my rent, car insurance, car payment, and other basic needs. My injuries are serious—I hurt my left ankle, foot, and calf, and I’ve just been approved for surgery. However, I recently found out I’m anemic and need to raise my iron levels before I can have the operation. My doctors say it will be at least six months, maybe longer, before I’m fully recovered. I’ll need physical therapy and will have to learn to walk again.
While I do have a good lawyer, we can’t file a lawsuit for a settlement until after my surgery. In the meantime, I’ve fallen behind on my bills and am now facing eviction. I have nowhere else to go, and it’s been incredibly stressful trying to keep up. My car also needs major repairs—a new exhaust system, catalytic converter, and new tires—so I can get to my medical appointments and, eventually, return to work. I was told I’ll only be able to do desk work in the future, so I’m preparing for that transition as well.
On top of everything, my dad passed away in May 2024, and my mom is on social security and can’t help me. I don’t have anyone else to turn to. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own, and it’s extremely hard for me to ask for help. But this situation is bigger than me now, and I have to swallow my pride. Any donation, no matter the size, will help me keep a roof over my head, get the medical care I need, and work toward getting back on my feet. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
