Help Melanie get through cancer

Donation protected
Melanie was just diagnosed with breast cancer it has spread, she has already missed significant amounts of work and will need assistance with medical costs and living expenses to fight this war for her children.   Anything will help her, as she is alone in facing the biggest challenge of her life with only her limited income to survive.    She already has an underlying immune system disorder which provides its own set of challenges.

She is a single mother of 2.   2020 was a challenging year as she contracted COVID, as did her daughter,  was furloughed and eventually lost her job.   2021 was looking up with a new job in January, then Cancer kicked the door in and knocked her flat.

She is a very strong and determined person, but needs your help to get through this.

"I am so scared for my kids.   It’s not fair, it’s so wrong.    They are in the eyes of the law fully grown.   But I found as I grew up myself that I needed my parents more as I grew older.  When I was young I had the benefit of my parents friends and extended family to step in and provide unconditional love, nurturing and advice when my parents were unable, as I grew older that changed, until eventually that group slowly and literally died out.      I  blessed to have a loving Auntie, she is 80 and lives an hour away.   With COVID, I haven’t seen her as much as my heart needs, but hoping that will change soon and that she remains healthy.   She is a mother figure to me. My Aunt Helen died 21 years ago, she was a gramma to me when my gramma died.  I feel that loss deeply to this day.    My dad died in 2010, 11 months after a stroke in 2009.    My Mom died a year and a half later after complications from eye surgery.

My brother is my rock, he lives in the same complex as I do.   My sister lives an hour south, due to COVID and potential exposure where she works it’s been over a year since we had meaningful personal contact.       My cousin, who is like a brother, lives on the west side of Portland, I don’t see him as often as I would like.    COVID and life seem to provide barriers all the way around.   Neither my brother nor cousin have ever married,  they are great, but there is nothing like a mother’s nurturing love for my kids.    My sister will step in as she can, but distance and health make it difficult.   My kids are too young to be without a Mom.     I am sobbing on my knees for strength and a cure.    I am not afraid of death, I am afraid of them being alone too young

I pray for strength to get through treatment, I pray treatment conquers the devil in me so I live long enough for my kids to find love, marry and have families of their own.    I want to be the gramma with bright orange hair that stinks too much iced water and insists on dessert first. "
