Help Melanie Curtis Conquer Cancer
Donation protected
We are Leigh-Ann and Carole, and we are fortunate to have Melanie in our lives.
Melanie Curtis never thought that on the heels of her 40th birthday, she would go for her first mammogram - something she considers a right of passage into adulthood - that her life would change in an instant. Follow-up appointments, a biopsy, MRI and a bone scan, and meetings with her surgeon, oncologist and navigator. More tests in four weeks than in 40 years.
Melanie is grateful for her long-time employment and health insurance, but she is quickly learning that those things are not enough. Appointments burn up your benefit time as fast as out-of-pocket expenses pile up. The next four months will bring chemotherapy with all the expected and unexpected side effects. There will be surgery and radiation down the road as well.
Anyone close to Melanie knows that she is the one who supports everyone else but never asks for anything. A kind soul who wears her heart on her sleeve. Melanie has a great support system in her family and friends. Kind words, positive vibes and prayers have been pouring in from near and far. So many people have let her know that they are there for her.
Carole and I have spent a lot of time talking with Melanie about some of her biggest concerns, and beyond the toll chemo takes on a body (and her beautiful dreads), she is worried about how she will juggle all the bills. We are hoping that you will be able to help take some of this particular worry off her mind. Melanie has a very strong spirit and is a fighter, determined to beat cancer.
Thank you to all of Melanie's supporters.
