Help Melanie and Luna Recover from Tragedy

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

On Friday March 28th, our lives were forever changed when my two daughters—Melanie (11) and Luna (6)—were tragically injured in an unimaginable accident. While attending a drop-off event for children where parents were not permitted, both girls were enveloped in flames. My oldest daughter, Melanie, suffered severe burns as a result of both the incident and for protecting her younger sister, Luna. Melanie has endured multiple painful procedures and has been hospitalized since the incident. My youngest, Luna, sustained burns as well however due to the heroic actions of her sister, she is no longer hospitalized and is doing better.

We are incredibly grateful that both of them are alive and with us, but the road ahead will be long and challenging. Melanie will require ongoing physical therapy and both girls will need trauma-focused psychological therapy to process the emotional toll of this terrifying experience. Melanie will also need special compression garments and protective clothing to support healing and prevent long-term health challenges.

As a mother, I am doing everything I can to be strong for them and ensure they receive the care they deserve. However, the emotional, physical, and financial weight of this tragedy has been overwhelming. I’ve taken time off work to stay by their sides, and I’m now facing mounting expenses including:

-Medical and therapy costs not fully covered by insurance

-Specialized burn garments and medical supplies

-Replacing furniture and bedding in their shared bedroom to make it safe and comfortable for healing

-Hospital Caregiver expenses such as meals, hygiene supplies, and emotionally uplifting games and activities during the extended hospital stay

-Lost income from being out of work while caring for them full-time
