Help Mel to prolong her life with Stage 4 incurable Cancer

Dear All,

After a long bachelor life, our dear friends Melanie and Joshua finally found each other in Australia and started their love story in early 2017.

After 4 years of waiting (due to COVID lockdown and immigration), Mel’s Australian visa was finally approved and she reunited with Josh in 2022.

Excited to start their new lives together on the Central Coast, Mel was struggling with some health issues. Only 10 weeks after she arrived in Australia, their world came crashing down after Mel was diagnosed with cancer.

In 2022, after being diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer, a 10-hour abdominal surgery was planned with a 4-week hospital stay.

After a long recovery period, she had to adjust to a life with a temporary stoma.

In 2023, Mel had to go through 6 months of chemotherapy and during this period she sadly lost her job. On top of her health scares, there was also financial stress now.

In 2024, Mel needed more surgeries and sadly received the news that the cancer had spread to her liver. Diagnosis: Stage 4 bowel Cancer with metastasis liver, incurable.

Mel and Josh have both been battling since 2022 with Mel fighting through this disease for over 2 years since then. What was supposed to be the beginning of their love story has become a large struggle. Not only has it been physically and emotionally draining, cancer has also become a financial burden.

After Mel lost her source of income, she wasn’t able to find new employment while going through chemotherapy, a low immune system, and multiple surgeries.

Because Mel is a new resident in Australia, she doesn’t receive any government support.

To prolong her life, Mel will have ongoing treatments, regular CT/MRI/PET scans, nutritional support, and physiotherapy.

Those who know Josh and Mel understand the size of their hearts and how they have always been there for others in their time of need. It’s our turn to give back to them as they face these overwhelming challenges.
