Help Mel Heal and Rebuild After Fire
Help Melissa Morris “Mel” recover from severe injuries from a House Fire
Dear friends and community,
I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Mel, who recently experienced severe injuries from a house fire. The fire started in her kitchen while she was working with craft materials for an art project. The incident left her with third degree burns on both of her arms and facial burns. She is currently hospitalized, has had two surgeries, and will require more surgery and healing before her release from the hospital. She is expected to be in the hospital for several weeks and unable to work for several months while she heals. While she is showing incredible strength and resilience, the journey ahead is both physically and financially challenging.
In addition to her medical needs, the fire caused damage to her home. She will need to replace essential items in her home as well as cover her living expenses while she is not working.
We are asking for your support to help alleviate the financial burden on Mel as she focuses on healing. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a dramatic difference in her life and aid her recovery.
I want to share a little about Mel:
Mel is a teaching artist that works with artists with disabilities. She is also a practicing artist that has a passion for textiles and mixed media.
She is an extremely kind and thoughtful friend—always putting others before herself.
She is fun and creative and brings a joyful spirit into anything she does.
She is a hard worker. She lacks only a few hours to complete her degree and has been working multiple jobs to support herself.
With your help she can focus on healing and recovery.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness during this challenging time.
