My name is Mel and I am a transgender man who needs gender affirming surgery. I am scheduled to have 'top surgery' to have my chest reconstructed in April at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. While it is unclear whether or not my insurance will cover the cost, regardless I still have a high deductable insurance plan and can be guaranteed to spend at least $5,000 in medical expenses out of pocket this year. I've already had to pay hundreds of dollars towards my medical transition so far, which has not only been a financial burden, but mentally draining as I've had to advocate tirelessly for myself as a trans person to get access to basic health care.  

For me, having this surgery is not just cosmetic: it is critical for my mental health. I'll be saving as much as I can between now and then, but am asking for help from anyone who is able to help offset some of my expenses. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated.  THANK YOU!!
