Help Mel Fight Her Cancer Battle

Hi, my name is Makayla Foster, my sister is Courtney Foster and we are Melanie's daughters. There are a million wonderful things that I could say about my mother, how she is the most amazing woman I know, always a helping hand, compassionate, and so much more, although I am sure most of you already know those things yourself. A loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and so much more. Unfortunately, life has not always been on her side. At the young age of 33 years old, my mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, after being hit by a car the year prior. She fought through this battle with all the strength she had. In 2019, my mother was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time. She decided to have a complete mastectomy and hysterectomy to ensure she would save herself from further battles. With a heavy heart, she announced to us in 2021 that her cancer had returned for a third time. However, this time it has spread to her lymphnodes in a more aggressive way. The look in her eyes in such a moment was one of the most difficult moments of our lives. Hardworking, devoted, selfless, loving, and giving would not be enough to describe what an incredible woman she is. She has never once asked for financial aid, always figuring it out on her own. Sadly, as she was not able to work for 6 months between her two cancer diagnosis', her financial aid has run out. With nothing she can do, I feel as though it is my time to ask our community to come together and remind Melanie how important she is to all of us. Whether big or small, we'll remember it all. I hope you all cherish your loved ones today and every day that follows. I hope you all remember what a blessing it is to be healthy. What a blessing it is to love you and to be loved by you, Mom.
