Hi, I’m Mel and this is my husband Joe. We just celebrated our 1-year wedding anniversary. Eight months ago, Joe had surgery on his foot, which should have been a quick recovery. Unfortunately, immediately after surgery, he became sick, which got worse over the next month. We went to see a different doctor and found out he had osteomyelitis, and he was immediately admitted to the hospital. When we got to the hospital they were talking about amputation and luckily they only had to take part of the foot.
He has undergone five surgeries in the last eight months, PICC line, home health, weekly wound care, the whole shebang. It has been a long, extensive process, which has resulted in him not being able to work the last eight months while undergoing treatment and recovery.
For anyone who knows us we never ask for help. This is not a situation either of us have been in before, and we hate to ask for help, but at this point, we have depleted all of our savings. We are struggling to pay medical bills as he has ongoing treatment as well as our regular living expenses, utilities, prescriptions, gas, groceries, etc., which has become very difficult at this point in time. We are trying to bridge the gap as he is in the process of getting back to work and back on our feet.
