Help Meilah Overcome Rare Condition

Donation protected
On January 20th, 2025, we were in an auto accident. At that time, my daughter Meilah immediately had a migraine headache, along with some confusion and memory loss. We went to St. Francis ER, and she was diagnosed with a concussion and whiplash. We scheduled a follow-up with her pediatrician. At her follow-up appointment, the pediatrician diagnosed her with a long concussion, scheduled an MRI, and referred her to a neurologist. On February 20th, 2025, the MRI was completed, and it showed an 11mm x 12mm x 9mm heterogeneous nodular area in the Pineal Gland and a 5mm x 6mm FLAIR signal lesion in the region of the Foramen of Monro. On February 25th, we finally saw the neurologist. He scheduled her for an EEG and a CT scan that focused specifically on the area of the Foramen of Monro. The CT scan was done on February 26th, and she was diagnosed with a benign Colloid Cyst on the Foramen of Monro. On February 28th, the neurologist called and is referring her to a neurosurgeon at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri. The soonest the neurosurgeon has availability is April 9th. We will be making the trip that morning.

As of right now, the money will go to help cover medical expenses, the time I have had to take off work to be with her, and for our travel to Kansas City. This will also help cover the surgery she will need to have a normal life again. She has missed almost the entire month of February from school because of migraine headaches and has missed every day in March so far. Today, March 5, we were sent to the ER by her neurologist due to how bad her migraine got today. They did another CT scan to make sure the Colloid Cyst wasn’t obstructing or causing hydrocephalus. We did find out it has grown more since the first MRI and CT scan and now is 5mm x 7mm x 5mm, which is a concern if it continues to grow rapidly. They did give her some medication that is helping with the migraine pain and getting her some rest. Please pray for her as well. This is a rare condition where only 3 in 1 million have this.

A couple of things: this is not covered by auto insurance as they believe it was a coincidental finding. Her medical insurance is not the best, and her medication is pretty expensive. I have missed several days of work, and I am almost out of my PTO, which won’t renew until August 1 of this year. I will keep everyone updated as we learn more. Please continue to pray for my daughter Meilah. She is having a lot of problems with understanding this and how bad her migraines are.
