Hi everyone, my name is Mehnaz, and I’m writing this because I’ve reached a point where I can’t carry this alone anymore.

I am currently a rising P2 Pharmacy student. My goal has always been to work in healthcare and help patients navigate their most difficult days. But right now, I am the one struggling to keep my head up.

My father is battling severe Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). It has reached a point where he can no longer walk without agonizing pain, and more devastatingly, he can no longer work. As the oldest child, the responsibility of keeping our family afloat has fallen entirely on me.

I am balancing a demanding pharmacy curriculum while working as much as I can on the side. But even with loans and a job, we are falling into a financial abyss. My father’s medication costs are relentless, and the choice between paying for my school supplies and his healthcare is a choice no child should have to make.

I’ve always prided myself on being independent—navigating college as a first-generation student and pushing through a rigorous program. But the weight of tuition, family expenses, and my father's medical bills is starting to affect my grades and my mental health. I am at my breaking point.
