Hi there, my name is Misty and yesterday a freak incident occurred that led to an emergency surgery on our two-year-old cat, Megumi. A dog walking near our home slammed the window to the room where our and our roommate’s cats reside. The window broke and Megumi got out. He was quickly found, but he had a huge wound on his leg.

As it was the 4th of July, we had to take him to an emergency vet where they proceeded to do an emergency procedure. He needed to be put under for several x-rays, sutures, and have a splint wrapped to his leg. Upon picking him up, we were told there was concern as the cut was deep enough to have exposed his tendons. While they looked okay to the doctor, we were instructed to bring Megumi in for a follow-up on Monday to see how he is healing and determine if further action needs to be taken, like physical therapy, and see if there is any nerve damage.

As is life, the timing of this was horrible. We will be moving in two weeks and money is tight—in no way prepared for a $3k emergency vet visit. We thankfully had enough credit available on our Care Credit card to cover this bill; however, we are concerned about the future costs we may see. Physical therapy is extremely expensive for animals and future procedures even more so.
