Help Megs Fight Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Rebecca Henderson and my best friend is Megan Wagland. You may know Megs from the horse world, real estate industry, friends from all walks of life, and of course family. To know Megs is to know energy, fierce loyalty, hard work, and incredible talent in anything she sets her mind to. If you don’t know Megs, well, that is why I am writing this. We hope to give her everything she needs to battle her diagnosis, and give the rest of the world the chance to get to know the Megs that I know and love.

Megan was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer back in February 2023. The devastating news barely had Megs skip a beat, “what’s the plan” she would say “let’s kick this things a$$”. I’ll never forget how strong she was. The cancer started in her cervix, and by the time it was discovered, it was already in her bladder. Megs underwent procedures to aid kidney failure, chemo, radiation, and intense Brachytherapy. Megs was discharged from her last major treatment in late May 2023 and things started looking up again. Megs was “back in the saddle”.

Fast forward to June 16th of this year when Megs was admitted to the hospital for pain. When I got to the hospital she was a distinct shade of yellow and we knew something was not right. After two months in and out of the Guelph hospital Megs was admitted to Juravinski Hospital on Aug 19th, where she is currently. Her new diagnosis worse than ever.

Megs’ cancer has now spread to her abdomen, intestines, and lymph nodes. She has had a gastral bypass surgery to allow her to eat and gain strength, so that she can start chemo this month.

Here’s where we need everyone’s help. Last year Megs had to make decisions no one should have to make; she had to forgo medications the doctors prescribed because of costs. My hope is that Megs does not have to pick and choose where finances need to go because there isn’t enough. Megs and her family have sacrificed so much already and things will only get worse once the chemo starts. Costs such as medications, day to day bills, and parking/fuel for her support team will add up quickly.

Donations will also be in support of her beloved Mia (feisty horse) & Mae (even feistier cat).

Those who know Megs know she is very passionate and VERY loud, here is our chance to be loud for her. This is my plea to everyone to amp up the support, in any way that you can. Even simply sharing this link can make a difference. Big or small your support is so appreciated and I thank everyone in advance.
