Show Up for Meghan McIntosh Through Her Health Crisis

Hi all it’s JJ, I’m asking for help for someone in our Show Up family who is experiencing a medical emergency.

This is Meghan McIntosh. She is from Lake Placid and was introduced to me through Tamara Peary the chat host of the Trilake County chat in NY. Meghan volunteers her time with not only Show Up but also indivisible, 50501 and Adirondack Voters for Change. She is a true activist for her community and those who don’t have a voice.

Meghan first offered to be my safety Marshall for the 4/5 Trinity Park Hands Off protest that Show Up hosted. At this protest Meghan was eyes on the ground with safety plans ready to execute if necessary. She taught me the importance of having safety plans and proper training.

My next adventure with Meghan was standing shoulder to shoulder with her as a safety Marshall and planner for the Halfmoon NY protest against Elise Stefanik.

Meghan was set to come back to Plattsburgh on 6/14 to the Show Up Flag Day Event as a safety Marshall but life had other plans.

Meghan ended up at the hospital being told she needed to be admitted and have an appendectomy first thing Saturday morning. Meghan complied and successfully went through surgery only to be told that her appendix was “fine” but they removed it anyways however her cecum appeared to have an infection.

As the last couple days have been spent in the hospital, Meghan has struggled in pain as well as had several doses of intravenous antibiotics to try and keep this bowel infection at bay.

But Meghan’s fight is far from over as she now has to go home with no answers from the doctors who removed her appendix - she is in a lot of discomfort and seeking another professional opinion- but in the meantime we would like to help her.

The money would help Meghan pay her rent for a couple months and some food while she may be in and out of the hospital trying to get some answers.
