My name is Sara. I am a Marine Corps spouse, mom, and substitute teacher. A few days ago, one of my dearest friends, experienced a devastating house fire, just shy of one year since her husband passed away from terminal cancer.

While my husband was stationed in Lansing, Meghan was my son's 5th grade teacher and also become one of my closest friends. She is very dedicated to teaching, and is a goofy, funny, ray-of-sunshine to all who know her. Meghan often helps out students who are homeless or less fortunate, by buying them food and clothing out of her own paycheck. She played a huge role in helping me discover my own passion for teaching/helping youth.

Meghan's son, Jimmy, is a recent high school graduate, and is currently attending Lansing Community College for Cyber Security.

The past year has been extremely difficult for Meghan and Jimmy. Meghan lost her father and her husband, both within a month. Jimmy lost his father and grandfather. For this to happen to them, almost exactly a year later, is devastating. They have been through so much as it is.

Meghan and Jimmy are now scrambling to replace clothing, home goods, life-saving medication, and dog supplies for their beloved dog, Otis. They are moving into an apartment for the 8+ months it will take to repair their home, and they have nothing.
