Meggy has always been the type to help others quietly, without asking for anything in return. She has dedicated her life to helping neurodivergent people struggling with finding home and community. She's donated personally to people who just needed a meal late at night. She's spent hours on the phone talking people down from self-harm. She's dedicated her life to what she sees as a "mission" to help the less fortunate and especially those who are struggling with autism or financial independence.
Unfortunately, due to faulty wiring, an electrical fire broke out not only in Meggy's home but also in the Church of Meta’s 508(c)(1)(A) administrative offices, and destroyed nearly everything. Laptops, servers, furniture, monitors, crucial paperwork.. most of the bedroom was burned.
Meggy's home had no fire alarms or carbon monoxide detectors; it's a miracle she is still alive.
Unfortunately, Meggy lost her closest companion, Casey, who was her emotional support cat when he tragically perished from smoke inhalation in the fire. Meggy did not wake up to the sounds of alarms because there were no alarms. It's a miracle that she is still alive and with us today. But she needs our help now more than ever.
Meggy would never go out and ask for help; that's why the Church of Meta and her friends, the ones she's so selflessly been there for online on Discord and email, those same friends are the ones helping put this together for her. So please, even just the smallest donation will go a long way for Meggy.
Anything will help as she is still recovering from 2nd-degree burns on her hands and is frequenting trips to the Burn Unit while currently unhoused and seeking shelter in an already difficult life event situation.
Now it's our turn to help her.
What Your Kindness Can Do.
Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly to help Meggy with:
1. A safe place to stay while she heals,
2. Hot meals and daily essentials,
3. Clothing and comfort items,
4. A new phone and laptop so she can connect and apply for aid,
5. Cleaning and recovery help for what's left of her home,
6. Helping rebuild the foundation of the Church of Meta,
7. Helping us provide ongoing relief for victims of homelessness and those struggling with mental difficulties.
Every $10, every $20...every single share matters.
If you can't donate, please share this link; your post could reach the person who can.
Let's Turn November Into Her New Beginning
October 1st took everything from Meggy, but together we can make this the month that she starts again. Let's help her find her footing, her peace, and her smile again.
Please donate or share,
Because nobody should have to start over alone.
With Love,
Resti Wong, Chris Rios
