On Saturday Feb 22, while Megan and her family were out of town at her son's hockey tournament, a fire started in her bedroom with no one home.
Megan's father in law had stopped by to check on her dogs and noticed the smoke and smell when he arrived and was able to contact the fire department.
Although the bedroom door was shut which dramatically reduced the damage the fire had done to the structure of the house, the fire occurred directly over an air vent which had then pushed all of the smoke and soot through the HVAC system and into every room.
Because of this it was deemed a significant health risk to keep any items in the home and Megan and her family will have to replace every single item. Toys, books, dishes, all furniture, etc. Insurance will cover replacement costs but will take a few months until the payout can occur.
Megan, her husband, her 3 kids (9, 5, 2) her 2 dogs and cat will be displaced for a minimum of 3 weeks best case scenario and in meantime will have to replace small things such as clothes, sippy cups, shoes, toiletries, etc.
Due to the huge outreach and requests, a go fund me has been created.
There are not enough words to explain our appreciation of everyone's kind words, tips from their own experiences and support already!
