Hello, my name is Summer and I have had the privilege of being Megan's coworker and friend for the past several years. Recently Megan has received devastating news. She has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of Melanoma. I'm hoping to help relieve some of the costs of healthcare as well as loss of wages.

 

Here is her story, in her words:

"As some of you know I received a call late January that has flipped my world upside down informing me that I have metastatic melanoma. When I heard those words I didn’t understand the gravity of the situation, but over the past 4 weeks I have learned so much, and I still have so much more to learn.

 

Today I am going in for an MRI of my brain, and tomorrow I am having surgery to remove the remainder of the melanoma site and my sentinel lymph node nearest the melanoma. They will send the lymph node to the lab for testing which will give us more information about if the cancer has spread. I will also be receiving a PET scan soon, but no date is set for that yet.

 

I feel like a jumbled up mix of emotions, strong but scared….optimistic but realistic….grounded yet constantly anxious. I cry everyday, but also find joy and happiness everyday. I never could have imagined that at 38 years old I would be dealing with a health problem this serious or consuming. But yet here I am. I know in my heart thatch will get through this eventually, but am scared for how hard the “through” will be. I am so incredibly grateful for all of you helping support me during this time. ❤️"
