I am Coren, and I’m setting up this GoFundMe for my best friend Megan. I’ve got the most amazing privilege to be a part of her and her amazing little son’s life, and I want to do everything I can to help her.

Here is a message from Megan introducing herself and explaining why we are taking this direction.

“I am the primary parent of my almost 4 year old little boy. His entire life, he has primarily lived with me and been under my care. I have carefully crafted his routine to best fit his needs and personality, prioritizing his education, development and secure attachments with our family around us. I am currently facing a high-conflict custody case that I cannot afford to navigate alone. I am representing myself and doing everything I can to advocate for my child’s best interests but the legal process is complex and expensive.

Motherhood is not something I take for granted. In 2015, I experienced the unimaginable loss of my first son. That grief shaped the mother I am today – consistently present, fiercely protective and deeply dedicated to maintaining his health, safety and emotional security. I feel passionately about continuing to be his primary parent as he enters the Headstart/pre-school chapter of his life.

There has been ongoing high-conflict communication and behavior by my child’s father and his attorney. I believe they are attempting to exploit the financial and emotional vulnerability this has caused to pressure me to agree to custody terms that would remove my son from his routine and the caregiving structure he has known his entire life.

I have no desire to limit our child’s time with his other parent. Working in early childhood development/education for the last year, I believe that children benefit from healthy, safe relationships with both parents. My only goal is to protect my son’s established stability, his routine and the secure attachments he has built with me, his grandma and grandpa, uncles, aunts, great aunts, great grandma, cousins and friends.

I am asking for help so I can obtain legal guidance. This includes:

- attorney consultation and possible representation

- court filing fees

- ongoing mediation costs

- document preparation and evidence organization
