Dear Friends, Family and Kind Supporters,
My name is Bailey, and I’m reaching out as a wife who has watched her spouse, Megan, take on life with unstoppable energy and a heart full of dreams. Megan, who constantly does anything and everything possible to make the lives of others around her brighter, is currently going through a medical crisis, so I am reaching out for help.
On September 18th, Megan started having intense pain and vomiting. She had emergency surgery to remove her gallbladder, which we were told would be a simple procedure with a speedy recovery, but it didn’t turn out that way. Ever since then, she has been in and out of the hospital or emergency room with complications, ranging from worse pain and vomiting than before her procedure, to a lasting mental health crisis due to trauma she experienced while hospitalized. She has since been diagnosed with ulcers, polyps, hyperthyroidism, panic disorder, PTSD, to name a few. We are still waiting to discuss her biopsy results regarding her newly discovered inflammatory disease, which will be at a GI appointment on December 3rd. She is also on a waitlist for a biopsy of her thyroid, since there were suspicious and abnormal masses on her ultrasound.
Unfortunately, Megan is still dealing with pain, vomiting, and other uncontrolled physical symptoms, on top of feeling so lost and hopeless, her mental health has been depleting along with her physical health. She is under close care of a psychiatrist who we have made the decision with to keep her out of a mental hospital for as long as it is safe. As someone who has been hospitalized for mental conditions, assaulted and neglected in the very hospitals that are supposed to keep you safe during your darkest time, I know they aren’t always helpful. Therefore I have taken over the role of being her caregiver for her physical and mental needs.
Due to Megan’s newfound health conditions and me caring for her, we currently have no income and are growing more worried since our savings have run dry. I lost my job at the end of last month and Megan has not been able to work since her surgery in September. I am currently looking for remote work so I can still keep an eye on Megan, who is out of work until at least the middle of December, if her psychiatrist clears her to go back at that time.
We are facing losing our home and everything else we have worked so hard for. At this point we have run out of options and don’t know where else to turn. Anything raised will go towards our rent, bills, medical copays, and basic necessities. Truly any amount helps and sharing this is equally as appreciated.
Thank you for your time. Please keep my sweet Megan and our family in your prayers.
