As some of you may know, our dear friend Megan McMillin was recently diagnosed with cancer - specifically, a Stage IIIA high-grade myxoid sarcoma in her breast. In September, she underwent a double mastectomy. Due to the highly aggressive nature of this rare, fast-growing sarcoma, Meg is now preparing to face several months of intensive radiation and chemo to prevent metastases to other parts of her body.
While Meg has insurance, it will not cover all of her medical expenses nor many of the costs associated with her care. She hasn't been able to work since August, and will be out of work for several more months. She has relied on food stamps the last 2 months, now cut off due to govt shutdown.
All of which makes covering everyday expenses, like rent in Denver while she undergoes treatment, groceries, transportation to appointments, food and medicine for her beloved dog Sally, plus uncovered medical bills—an overwhelming challenge.
Meg has already beaten cancer once in 2010 and we need her to beat it again. Anyone who knows her knows her strength, kindness, and resilience. She has always been the first to show up for others in their time of need, be it friends, family, or patients she has cared for in her professional career, and now it’s our turn to show up for her.
It’s taken awhile to get Megan to agree to letting us ask for help - she doesn’t want to be a burden or make anyone feel obligated. I have assured her she is not a burden. We are asking for your help to ease the financial concern so Meg can focus on healing and fighting this cancer with everything she has. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and be deeply appreciated.
Please understand that there is no obligation to contribute. However, if you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page with others who may be able to help. Your love, prayers, and generosity mean more than words can say.
Thank you for supporting Megan and Sally through this fight.
