My name is Megan, and I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d need to ask for help like this.
Back in October, I had an ankle replacement that was supposed to be a straightforward recovery. Instead, a blister developed that never healed, and everything quickly spiraled from there. Since then, I’ve had three additional surgeries, with a possible fifth still ahead. Doctors have had to remove dead tissue and perform multiple skin grafts, including an Integra graft and another graft just four weeks ago. Despite everything, the wound still isn’t fully healed, and I remain completely non-weight-bearing.
During this process, I was also diagnosed with a vascular artery condition that affects circulation, which may be part of why my wound has struggled to heal.
I spent seven weeks on a wound vac, underwent multiple treatments, and now have a stem cell patch in hopes of avoiding another surgery. If this doesn’t work, I may be facing yet another procedure.
This journey has been incredibly difficult physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. I was supposed to return to work at the end of February, but I’m still unable to walk. Recently, I also lost my health insurance and short-term disability, which means I currently have no income. I live alone and have been navigating most of this on my own. My family has helped as much as they can, but my medical bills and monthly expenses continue to grow, and I’m not sure how I will manage moving forward.
I’ve put off asking for help as long as I could, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t do this alone anymore. It’s very hard for me to ask, but right now I truly need it.
If you’re able to donate or even share my story, it would mean more than I can put into words. This fundraiser will help cover mounting medical bills and basic living expenses while I’m unable to work and continue healing.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support, prayers, or shares. I’m holding onto hope that I can heal and get back on my feet again.
