Help Megan Haynes Support Her Mom’s Care Transition and Move
Donation protected
Hello, everyone. My name is Megan Haynes, and I’m raising funds to travel from my current home of Portland, Oregon to my hometown of Huntington, West Virginia, so I can assist my mother in transitioning to assisted living.
In May 2023, my mom had a stroke that left her partially paralyzed and severely disabled. Since then, living on her own has been challenge after challenge due to her already decreased mobility and continuing health issues. It has been heartbreaking to witness my strong, smart, independent Mama become almost entirely bedridden.
She has finally conceded that she needs to be in a more supportive environment, at least for a while, to give her the best shot at recovery while adapting to her new limitations. I am so proud of her.
Now here’s the catch: she currently lives in a run-down apartment that is only paid for through February 2025. My hometown support system is working on a plan to temporarily move all of her possessions (as well as all of mine that didn’t fit in my car when I moved across the country for school 8 years ago) into a storage unit. We’re talking an entire life’s worth of belongings.
This spring, I MUST travel back and handle downsizing these items for my mom - as well as transport what I can of mine back to Portland.
I am asking for donations to fund the following:
-air travel from Portland to Huntington, one way
-food and necessities on my trip
-lost wages for the (at least) 2 weeks this venture will take me
-a uhaul rental so I can drive back to Portland with all my possessions in tow
-hotel rooms for three nights along my route driving to Portland
-gas money for the return trip
Without assistance, there is no conceivable way I can accomplish all of these things on my own. If you are able, I welcome your donation. Even $5 helps!
Please share my story with your friends, family, and followers. Help me help my mom start this new chapter of her life with minimal stress. ❤️
