Help Megan Fight Severe Illness and Keep Hope Alive
Dear friends, family, and compassionate community,
My name is Megan, and I am reaching out with humility and hope. After spending 11 days in the hospital, I was discharged only to face the reality that I may need to return soon. I have now been officially diagnosed—twice—with severe gastroparesis, a condition where my stomach no longer functions properly. I am starving, not in the sense of hunger, but in the literal sense that my body cannot process food.
Doctors are preparing me for a PEG-J feeding tube, which will allow me to receive nutrition directly into my intestines. This intervention is critical, but the waiting process for insurance approval is agonizing. Every day I grow weaker—cold all the time, exhausted, and unable to do even the smallest tasks without collapsing into days of sleep. My medical team has begun using words like “quality of life”, which is terrifying to hear at my age.
On top of this, I live with multiple chronic illnesses: EDS, POTS, MCAS, CRPS, and now gastroparesis. These conditions have left me completely disabled and unable to work. These conditions have left me as a semi-ambulatory wheelchair user with little strength to stand most of the time. We’re looking to get a wheelchair that will allow me to keep my feet up to prevent the POTS from causing me to faint.
My husband Dave, who has been my rock, is currently unemployed despite actively speaking with recruiters. We are running out of savings, and the burden of medical bills, utilities, groceries, and basic living expenses is overwhelming.
Through all of this, my Catholic faith sustains me. I rely on Providence and the kindness of others to carry us through. My father brings me Holy Communion weekly, since I am too weak to attend Mass. I cling to prayer, trusting that God will provide—but I also know that He often works through the generosity of His people.
Why We Need Your Help
• Medical bills piling up from hospital stays and upcoming procedures
• Utilities and groceries as we struggle to keep our household running
• Basic living expenses while Dave continues his job search
• Faith and community support to remind us we are not alone
How You Can Support
• Donate: Any amount, no matter how small, will help us keep going.
• Share: Please spread this campaign with your church, prayer groups, and friends.
• Pray: Your prayers mean more than words can express.
We are asking for help not just to survive, but to restore hope. With your support, I can receive the care I desperately need, and Dave can continue searching for work without the crushing fear of losing everything.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for praying, and for giving. May God bless you abundantly for your kindness.
With gratitude and faith,
Megan & Dave
Message from the Organizer:
I’ve known Megan personally for several years now and she is a dear friend with many health issues and I have witnessed the decline in health quality over these years as she expresses frustration that she cannot do what she wants to do (such as work or be more mobile).
Megan has personally requested I get this campaign started for her. All funds will go to her directly, I’m just getting the ball rolling on her needs and assisting in a way I know I can do easily enough.
