❤️ Help Support Megan and Her Family During an Unimaginable Medical Crisis ❤️
Born with a congenital heart defect, Megan has spent her entire life fighting to survive. In the last couple of months, she has undergone four open-heart surgeries and countless procedures during her most difficult chapter yet.
On September 14, 14-year-old Megan was rushed to the Stollery Children’s Hospital with dangerously low oxygen levels. Doctors discovered that Megan’s heart function had dropped to a critical level. She spent much of September in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. On October 13, she was transferred to the Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit, where she remains today. Megan is now living with a mechanical heart (LVAD) and undergoing dialysis as her kidneys struggle to keep up. She is waiting for a heart transplant — her only chance at recovery — and will remain in the hospital until that day comes.
Her dad, Ryan, has rarely left her side since September 14. He sleeps at the hospital every night, trying to hold his family together while also caring for his other two children, a 14-year-old daughter (Megan’s twin) and a 16-year-old son. He is the sole parent caring for and supporting his three children, and the financial strain has become overwhelming—missed work, keeping up with the mortgage and other bills, and trying to meet the needs of all three children during this crisis.
This GoFundMe was created to help ease the immense burden this family is facing so the focus can remain on supporting Megan and her siblings during this difficult time. Your donations will help cover essential living expenses, transportation, food, missed income, and the ongoing costs of raising three children during a medical crisis that no parent should ever have to endure.
Megan is a brave, resilient girl, and her family is fighting every day to stay strong for her. Any amount — big or small — will make a meaningful difference and will allow her dad to focus on what matters most: being by Megan’s side as she waits for a new heart.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and prayers for this family. ❤️
