Dear Friends and Community,

I’ve been in the Sacred Fire Firekeeper training since September 2024 and it’s been a deeply rich and humbling experience. In April I began to hold monthly community Sacred Fires in Santa Cruz, the first four with the support of my firekeeping sponsor. Now the time has come for the final phase of this journey, a week of training and initiation in Tepoztlan, Mexico this December.

I’m holding a fundraiser to pay for this final phase of the training and would like to ask for your financial support to do this sacred work.

How much money do I need to raise?

My fundraising goal is to raise $2600 by December 2 for the cost of this final phase of the training and initiation which begins on December 7. This money will be used to cover the training fees, food, lodging and travel expenses.

Why does this mean so much to me?

I was first connected to the Sacred Fire community in 2005 when I lived in Asheville, North Carolina. Then in 2006, I moved to Santa Cruz and shortly after arriving I learned there were two Sacred Fire Firekeepers here. I became a regular at their monthly community fires and being part of that fire circle got me through a very difficult time in my life. Eventually they moved out of the area and there were no more monthly fires. I have greatly missed those fires and wanted to bring them back for myself and others to experience the magic that occurs from the simple act of being together around a Sacred Fire.

The medicine of fire has been transformative in my life. Sitting by the fire is so natural, so settling and rebalancing. When I bring people together around the fire I feel like I am doing what I am meant to be doing. I feel the great need for the medicine of fire in the world. I see people longing for connection with Nature, with the Divine and with community and I’m grateful to have a way to provide that possibility and that blessing.

How will our community benefit?

Through this process of training and initiation I will be making a commitment to hold these fires every month. All are welcome to the community Sacred Fires. You can come once or every month, whatever works for your schedule, the fire and I will be there. There is no charge to come to the community fires, donations are welcome to cover the costs of holding the fires.

If this speaks to your heart, I humbly ask for your help in reaching my goal of $2600 by December 2 to travel to Mexico for the firekeeper training and initiation. Any amount, no matter how small, will add up to make a difference.
