Hi, I'm Megan. I'm a veterinary technician, just turned 30 and last October got married to an amazing husband. I love drawing, video games, and playing Dungeons & Dragons in my free time with friends.
In February, I got what I thought was a simple cold, and I had a lingering cough that never went away. After going to the doctors, they took chest radiographs which showed a concerning area in my chest that did not look like pneumonia. I then had a CT scan performed. The CT scan confirmed a large 13cm mass-like area in my chest and several enlarged lymph nodes. The next step was a PETscan, and a biopsy of my lymph node in my neck. The biopsy confirmed that I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The PETscan confirmed that I was at Stage 4. About 8,500-9,000 people are diagnosed with this every year. It responds very well to chemotherapy, and my doctor said it can be cured.
I'll go through 6 months of chemotherapy and then possibly radiation therapy for the large mass in my chest. My doctors are cautiously optimistic about my prognosis, but I know it's going to be a long journey for me. Please consider helping me and my family fight this cancer. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!
