Hi, my name is Bonnie Barker Bell. My husband, Brian Bell, and I are very concerned for our dear friend Meg Roope. Meg is an RN. Her husband, Blake, is the Assistant Police Chief for Batesville PD. They have 3 daughters. She is one of the sweetest, most kind and caring individuals we have ever known.

Meg was working full time, very active with her family, community and church until she started experiencing unexplained flank pain and inability to urinate suddenly last September. Since her first lengthy hospitalization, she has been hospitalized approximately twice a month, every month, for days to weeks at a time. After several local consults, a stay and consult at University of Cincinnati , a couple of visits to Cleveland Clinic and discussions with University of Wisconsin, it has been decided that she most likely has a very rare condition called “ Loin Pain Hematuria Syndrome”. https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/6920/loin-pain-hematuria-syndrome

Her frequent admissions so far have been to manage pain and facilitate urination. There is no known cure for this syndrome. Only management of pain and urination. The University of Wisconsin has specialists who deal with this rare disorder. They told Meg that there is a surgical procedure that they could do that they hope will possibly minimize her hospitalizations. She will be going there in March. It requires a lengthy stay in the area for follow up visits until she is released by her surgeons.

Up to this date, Meg has acquired over $15,000 in medical bills, not to mention the loss of her income as an RN. She has the future expense of the trip, stay and surgery in Wisconsin.

Meg recently had to resign from her beloved position as community resource nurse for Margaret Mary Health in Batesville, due to her inability to work. She has done so much for her community. Our hope is that the community will step up to help Meg, Blake and their daughters through this crippling financial crisis. Any amount will be beneficial to this family.
