Help Meg Recover from Robbery!

After being out of town, Meg (my amazing mom and Oscar's extraordinary grandma) arrived back at her home in Desert Hot Springs on March 12 to find she had been burgularized. They took all of her electronics - (computers, recording equipment, stereo components, router, TV, etc.) - all of her tools (skill saw, drill, hand saws, bucket of hammers, screwdrivers, etc) - all of her jewelry (which she has been collecting for years from around the globe) - family heirlooms (including a beautiful box made for her by her father, silver, etc) - and her car (one that she had just had a MAJOR repair on - and one that is NOT insured for theft). THANKFULLY none of her instruments were damaged. They left her furniture, some clothes and well, that's it. ALSO, and most importantly, they didn't get ahold of her spirit! It will take more than that to dampen her positivity and grace. However, she doesn't have much in the way of funds to get her by while things shake out. For those of you that do not know, she is a musician. More specifically, an early music keyboardist. She has been playing concerts since she was a child - she was a Fulbright scholar that studied with Karl Richter (organ) in Munich and Gustav Leonhardt (harpsichord) in Amsterdam. Luminaries both, but for those of you keeping track, that means she is BROKE! Did someone say classical music? I say BROKE. It's appalling that there isn't more in the way of support for these arts but that is where we are. And, I want to add that since arriving in Desert Hot Springs a few years ago she has already begun sharing her gift with the community. She has been hosting intimate concerts in her home - offering a place for new friends and acquaintances to come and listen to some extraordinary music. And it has not just been her performing - she has reached out to other tremendous musicians, and invited them to come in to perform for a lucky handful of people, many of whom have never heard a harpsichord or organ or clavichord (or whatever other instrument is being played) before! But sadly she is now facing a ransacked home, no car and no funds to take care of anything while she awaits whatever her home policy will reimburse. In the mean time, she is still trying to prepare an "Organs of Italy" tour that she is leading and she is working on next year's "Harpsichord Festival" in the Desert. For that she needs a computer. She also needs a car. She needs an alarm system that isn't powered by her home's electricity (they cut her power). She needs some encouragement! Perhaps you have an extra pair of earrings or a necklace or a purse or something? Nothing fancy necessary just, you know, something to brighten her day, renew her faith in the human spirit - something to remember you by? (If you're interested in this, email me and I will give you her address.) I know, I have used too many words. Suffice it to say - she needs some help. And every little bit counts. And every little bit means A LOT! Thank you for considering a donation to the Megster! She will be oh so appreciative - oh so grateful - oh so moved! I know it. This is a woman who asks for nothing. Truly. And if you haven't heard her play, you should. She is uniquely gifted.
