Hello! My name is Meeti, I’m 21, South Asian, and I’ve been working as a freelance artist for three years. I’ve been trying to save up so I can safely transition and move out of Texas after I graduate in 2027. But with the animation industry going through instability, it has become extremely hard for me to build any savings.
I’ve known I was trans ever since I was a kid, and I officially put a label on it in middle school, but I’ve spent my entire life in a home where my parents don’t support me being trans. Our relationship has been tumultuous, and living with them has been deeply damaging to my mental health. Growing up, I would dream of escaping endlessly. This stress and mental agony have taken a major toll on my life and health. I am not able to grow into the person I should be at my age under these conditions.
Living in a false version of myself for so long has been devastating. I’ve struggled with suicidal thoughts since I was twelve, and staying in this situation is only making things worse. Your support will help me finally take a step in pursuing my identity.
What Your Support Will Help Cover:
$2,000 - Electrolysis
- This is the first step to my transition, as it is recommended to do electrolysis before HRT.
- Additionally, this is extremely doable for me in Texas, as I will be able to hide it quite easily.
$2,000 - HRT (injections)
- As HRT costs are highly dependent on insurance, I gave my best estimate for what at least 2 years of estradiol injections would cost.
$6,000 - Moving Costs + Emergency Fund
- This will help me move out safely, cover deposits, transportation, and initial living expenses.
- This will also act as a safety net in the case that my parents find out about my transition and I lose housing unexpectedly.
If I were to reach my goals, my life quality would be improved immensely. I’d be relieved from years of constant stress, have distance from a toxic environment, and finally have the room necessary to heal. Additionally, my art will improve immensely. I promise to create more authentic art and maybe finally sell prints.
