Hello, my name is Chelsea and I’m requesting help for my beautiful dog Meeko. He’s a 2 and a half year old rescue who has already been through so much in his short life.

Meeko was born with a painful condition called entropion, where his eyelids roll inward and his eyelashes rub against his eyes. This causes constant irritation, pain, and, if left untreated, can lead to blindness. This condition does not present itself until they’re in older, and unfortunately with Meeko’s mix of breeds it is a common issue.

A few months ago, Meeko had surgery to correct his lower eyelids, however the procedure was done poorly and has made his condition worse, cutting off too much skin and leaving his lower eyelids exposed and an inadequate production of tears to lubricate his eyes. Now both his upper and lower eyelids on both eyes are affected, leaving him in constant discomfort.

The only way to give Meeko the chance at a pain-free life is through a specialist double entropion surgery, which has been quoted between $2,200–$2,500. This will be done through RSPCA with their ophthalmologist specialist, who will perform the entropion surgery on Meeko’s upper lids and correct the previous surgery on his lower. I’ve explored every option I can, loans, payment plans, and charities but I simply can’t afford this on my own.

Watching him struggle every day breaks my heart, I’m currently maintaining his condition with anti inflammatory medication, eye soaks and constantly lubrication daily however this will not cure his condition, only slow it down slightly.
