Nothing is scarier than watching your best friend go through something and not be able to do anything to help them.

Meeko presented with abdominal tenderness late last night. As the worried mom I am for my dogs, especially this one, we quickly went to the emergency vet. They discovered that he had a mass on his spleen that had ruptured so he was bleeding internally. They kept it under control over night and performed a CT scan this morning to get a better idea of the mass and if there were any others.

Meeko will have surgery this afternoon to remove his spleen and send it to biopsy to see if the masses are cancerous. There is a 2/3 chance that it is which means even with chemo I’ll have very little time left with my best friend. But I’ll give him every possible chance we can get if he goes through surgery well.

His current overnight stay plus surgery is in the $9,000 range, not including the future potential for oncology care. I will always preach getting your pets insured and have no idea how much of this they’ll cover but I’m asking for help because I’ll shamelessly do anything for my favorite thing on this earth.
