Meeka is honestly one of my best friends (my other, being Malakai), They are both beautiful huskies. Meeka is 5 years old in June.
We have recently been to the vets a lot with Meeka and just this weekend been referred to the Murdoch animal emergency hospital. Meeka was then diagnosed with IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), As the vet was explaining Meekas case i felt really sorry for her because i was just not understating what it all meant, and then i became emotional hearing words like "Euthanasia" and "24-48 hours to live", so here is a brief description of Meekas condition:
"When your dog has IMHA, it means his immune system destroys its own red blood cells. Your dog’s body still produces red blood cells in the bone marrow to replace the destroyed cells, but once they are released into circulation, the immune system mistakenly recognizes them as something foreign, like a virus or infection, and destroys them." Meekas red blood cell count was 18, the avergage is 30.
Meekas Platelet count was also 18, the average is 200-900.
This means if meeka cuts herself or does anything strenuous she is at risk of bleeding out and bleeding internally.
The vet explained that she would need to keep Meeka in the hospital on medication and blood transfusions for a week to increase her levels... costing $10,000. This money accounts for her stay in the hospital, her medication and blood transfusions, which are $450 each time she's gets one. Now i 100% would have coughed up that money to save my girl if i could have, unfortunately i could not. So we were sent home with all her medication and a note saying she is at risk of collapsing in 24-48 hours resulting in her being put to sleep.
It has now been 3 days and Meeka is still with us, she's low on energy, but she's pulling through. We are doing vet and blood checks everyday to keep and eye on Meekas levels.

Unfortunately this is only buying us time with Meeka, I'm really hoping that out of this we can help Meeka fully recover and get her the blood transfusions she needs. I would be forever grateful to anyone who donates anything!as meekas vet bills are already quiet expensive any money raised will only be used on her! Meeka means so much and is a huge part of my little family.
