Help Mechanicville Baseball Team Upgrade Their Field
Donation protected
My name is Ben Boyle. I am a volunteer assistant coach for the Mechanicville Varsity Baseball team. The coaching staff are seeking donations to support a complete field renovation that will not only benefit the high school but also the local little league (Mechanicville Redstorm). The current baseball field is a part of a multi-use field space that is heavily used as a soccer and football training field in the fall and used for other school related field activities throughout the year. This results in a baseball field that requires significantly more annual maintenance than a normal baseball only facility. Due to budget restrictions, a majority of this maintenance is not feasible through school funding. As a part of a new coaching staff, we are trying to teach our student athletes to strive to achieve more than they thought possible. So, this field renovation is our way of showing them that if you put in the work and ask for help when you need it, you can accomplish anything. All the labor for this work is being volunteered. We are only asking for donations to purchase the materials. The major materials we are in need of are proper infield mix and a proper outfield fence. Because of the multi-use nature of the field, the infield is more sand and results in an infield surface that is unpredictable and not resilient to rain. Furthermore, as the entire outfield area is used throughout the year, we are unable to install a traditional chain link fence. In recent years, we have used a temporary fabric fence which is constantly sagging or loose and does not define a true outfield fence line. The addition of proper infield mix and a portable outfield fence designed for baseball will provide these student athletes with a big league experience at a little league price tag. We appreciate any support you can give. Thank you!
