Help Meaghan and Her Son Rebuild Their Lives

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alyssa, I am a friend of Meaghan. She is in need of help to get reliable transportation, a place to live and some furnishings. You can read her story below. We’ve personally donated to her but If you'd like to help too, you I would be grateful and so would her and her son. God bless.

Here is Meaghans' story in her own words, so you can see her success and also her journey:

My name is Meaghan and sitting here in a hotel in Ocean County today, feeling grateful, yet tired.

I escaped a domestic situation. Through a series of unfortunate events, my son ended up in foster care and I went to rehab. So ...my journey began. It was difficult to make that change but my son was safe and I was working on recovery.

On August 28th, there was an emergency hearing to give me back custody!!! THE NEXT BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!

So, we are TOGETHER again! I’m no longer picking up a drink. I have 5 months of sobriety. And I've been taking it day at a time. However, it's been a struggle. Part of me feels like we've been dumped here and I have to figure it out. Parenting is in full swing.

It's hard doing all this, as just when I was getting my footing, I had to quit my job in Woodbridge, and get settled here in Ocean County where our case is and where my son attends school. We don't have a vehicle, which would make it a lot better for the both of us. Where we are isn't very walkable . Trying to find a job that is walkable from here is my goal, as uber is expensive and it's not bus friendly either. It's crazy because you need a car to get a job, and a job is needed to get a car. I feel stuck.

Ive only worked 2 days since being here, as just when I began my job on Sept 11th, my son was hospitalized 2 days later.

We have been approved for housing, just waiting for the ok from the Division as to when I can start looking and whether we can look for a 1 bedroom or a 2 bedroom. Thankfully the division will purchase a new bedroom set for my son.

And so, this is where I stand today. A tired mom, At moments, defeated. MANY moments of doubts, I still feel like I'm letting my son down.

I know I’m not, It just feels that way. Im grateful for these feelings though, so that I can process them, as a person should. I’m glad to be going through this clean and sober.

Today was a rough day. But I KNOW , IT WILL GET BETTER!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
