Meadows Story

At 1am Friday August 14th, our beautiful cat Meadow was rushed to the emergency vets with a suspected head trauma.

She was discovered panting and unable to stand and has since developed neurological issues finding it difficult to walk, balance and her head has tilted to one side.

We are still unsure what caused this, although suspect she may have fought with one of the other cats and somehow hit her head. The vets said this kind of trauma is usually seen in cats hit by cars so is extremely unusual for this to have happened at home.

After spending 5 days in the surgery she improved enough to return home and has now been diagnosed with Horners Syndrome - a medical condition caused by damage to the sympathetic nerve pathway that runs from the brain to the face and eye.

She has since been back into the surgery again for sedation to check for infections and they have found a large bacteria and yeast build up in her right ear which is also now being treated.

As of today, she is progressing well. She is eating, drinking, her walking has improved and her mood is so much better, but despite this she is still extremely wobbly, her head is still tilted meaning she still gets very disorientated and she still needs constant supervision and surveillance. She is having to live in our office room currently and Tayla is sleeping in with her each night to make sure she is OK.

While her progress so far is certainly going the right way, she still has a long way to go to get back to her normal self and this could potentially take months - with no guarantee she will ever fully recover to how she was before.

How You Can Help

Due to her having to have out-of-hours care, spending multiple days at the surgery, sedation, numerous appointments and medication costs, this has unfortunately left us with an extremely large bill we are struggling to afford. We have had to cancel and sell our upcoming holiday and had to take money out of our house deposit which is something we really can't afford to be doing and the bill is due to continue to rise. Having a lot of rescue animals we are very used to vets bills but due to the timing and severity of what's happened, it's something we sadly weren't prepared for.

As of today, the bill currently stands at £3327.99

If you can help in anyway it would help ensure Meadow gets all the ongoing help she needs, help us recoup costs and would be a huge weight off our shoulders.

Thank you so much for reading and caring! We honestly appreciate it more than you know and we will update you on her progress.

Thank you!!
